Finding The Best Tech Candidates

Your company needs a solid tech candidate.  Where do you start?

You can put and ad in the newspaper (do they still have those around?).

You can write a detailed account of what you want, share it with HR, then have to rewrite it, share it with management, and have to rewrite it again for the 10th time before you send it to a recruiter who only skims for buzzwords.

OR

Your company can sponsor a SQL Saturday to meet and greet hundreds of potential candidates that you know take their quest for knowledge and growth a step further.  A candidate who spends their Saturday attending a tech conference because they WANT to learn, is the candidate YOU want and your company needs!

What is SQL Saturday?

PASS SQL Saturday is a free training event for professionals who use the Microsoft data platform. These community events offer content across data management, cloud and hybrid architecture, analytics, business intelligence, AI, and more.

Big Network, Bigger Reward

When you hire a new person, you not only hire them but you are hiring their entire network!  Think about that for a moment.

If you hire me, you get Kellyn Pot’Vin-GormanGrant Fritchey, Brent OzarGinger GrantGuy in a Cube, Meagan Longoria….the list goes on and on.  How do you get them?  I am an active member of the SQL community, and these are SOME of the thousands that I follow for answers to questions all companies have at one time or another.  I benefit from their knowledge, and your company then benefits from it as well.

The Sacred Unicorn   giphy-3

Every company wants that unicorn.  The perfect candidate who knows everything, has experience with every program ever created, can pick up new programs within seconds, and who always has all the answers.  Okay, we all know that person doesn’t exist.  But, the closest thing is a person who is willing to put effort into their career and spend their Saturdays in a classroom listening to the trials, failures, and successes of those wishing to share their knowledge.  Those candidates know that “just because we have always done it that way” is not the answer.  Those candidates know that it is more important to do it right rather than just to put a band-aid on it.
